TOKYO LIGHTS 2023

At the “Festival of Lights” area during “TOKYO LIGHTS 2023” held in Meiji Jingu Gaien in September and November, two installation artworks, “IMMERSIVE GATE” and “LINK TOWER,” were created, along with a performance staged on top of LINK TOWER.

“IMMERSIVE GATE” is a massive gate-shaped installation measuring 2 meters high and 8 meters deep, designed to greet visitors with light and video. The entire structure functioned as an LED display, showcasing ambient logo animations and dynamic 3D CGI visuals synchronized with music, creating an immersive experience akin to entering another world.

“LINK TOWER” is an installation themed around “connecting a divided world through light.” It features an extensive network of LED tubes stretching from the base of the tower, representing subway lines, to the plaza, topped by a tower of light symbolizing Tokyo’s skyscrapers. The LEDs lit up the paths of visitors crossing the area, with the tower of light shining as the symbolic centerpiece of the “Festival of Lights” area.

On the stage at LINK TOWER, a vibrant performance was conducted, integrating LED ribbons, LED masks, LED umbrellas, and LED flags with the light of LINK TOWER, bringing vitality and awe to the area.

明治神宮外苑で9月と11月に行われた”TOKYO LIGHTS 2023”の「光の祭典エリア」にて ”IMMERSIVE GATE”、”LINK TOWER”の２つのインスタレーション作品を製作、及びLINK TOWER上で行われるパフォーマンスを演出しました。

”IMMERSIVE GATE”は来場者を光と映像で迎える高さ2m、奥行き8mの巨大なゲート型インスタレーションで、全体がLEDディスプレイとしてアンビエントなロゴアニメーションや音楽に同期したダイナミックな３DCG映像を表示し、異世界に迷い込んでいくような没入感を演出しました。

”LINK TOWER”は「分断された世界を繋ぐ光」をテーマにしたインスタレーションで、広範な地下鉄線路を表現したタワー下部〜広場まで伸びるLEDチューブと、東京の高層ビル群を表現した上部の光の塔、そしてパフォーマンスを行うステージによって構成されています。広場まで伸びたLEDの光がエリアを行き交う観客の足元を照らし、光の塔は「光の祭典エリア」の象徴として光輝きました。
LINK TOWERのステージでは、LEDリボン、LEDマスク、LED傘、LEDフラッグなどを駆使したダンスとLINK TOWERの光が一体となったパフォーマンスが行われ、エリアに活気と感動をもたらしました。
